Party Platform Comparison 2020-2024

Are there differences between the political parties? Yes, there are, and voters can better understand those differences by comparing the parties' platforms. A party platform is a declaration of a party's values and the policy roadmap it intends to follow. Studies have shown that elected officials vote in line with their party's platform over 80 percent of the time. If you want to know how a political candidate is likely to vote on the issues that matter to you, look at the party platform.

Below, you will find comparisons of recent Republican and Democratic platforms, as well as a comparison of how the 2024 Republican platform differs from its 2016/2020 platform. See the difference for yourself and share with others!

*Note, the below comparison is based on the 2020 to 2024 platforms. The GOP adopted its new party platform in July, 2024 and the Democratic Party will do so in August. Once both parties adopt their new platforms we will create an updated Party Platform Comparison.
