The Courtroom Drama over Roe

Maybe the question we should be asking Americans isn't whether they support Roe v. Wade, but whether they actually understand what it means. Most people, Scott Rasmussen found out, have no idea. Thanks to the Democrats' fearmongering and the media's propaganda, the majority of Americans have been under the wrong impression about the ruling for years. If the justices overturn Roe, abortion doesn't suddenly become illegal - like 56 percent of the country believes it would. The question would be decided by the states. Why don't more Americans know that? Because the far-Left doesn't want them to.

Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation to the Supreme Court wouldn't mean the end of abortion in America - not that Joe Biden went out of his way to clarify that at Monday's townhall. When an audience member asked what his "particular plans" were to protect "women's reproductive rights in the U.S." in light of Barrett, Biden piled on the panic. "[T]he expectation is that she may very well move to overrule Roe." If that happens, he insisted, "the only responsible response to that would be to pass legislation making Roe the law of the land. That's what I would do."

But what does it mean to make Roe v. Wade the "law of the land?" It doesn't just mean that abortion would be legal in all 50 states. That's something a slim majority of people might support. It means abortion through all nine months of pregnancy, up until the second of birth, would be legal. And when pollsters put that question to voters, liberals are lucky to crack eight percent. That's why Democrats talk about "codifying" Roe. It's a nicer way of saying they want to wipe the country clean of pro-life laws and make the most barbaric, late-term practices permanent.

At one point, Kamala Harris even suggested using Justice Department to stop any legislative limits on abortion. "If I'm elected," she said before Joe Biden won the nomination, "I'm gonna... require that states that have a history of passing legislation that is designed to prevent or limit a woman's access to reproductive health care, that those laws have to come before my Department of Justice for a review and approval. Until we determine that they are constitutional, they will not take effect." Talk about an assault on federalism! And don't believe for a second that she hasn't whispered that same idea in Joe Biden's ear. If a Democrat wins the White House, there's no limit to what this duo will do - whether it's within their power or not.

President Trump pointed that out Tuesday morning, when he highlighted just how extreme the Democrats' agenda has become. "Wow. Joe Biden just took a more liberal position on Roe v. Wade than Elizabeth Warren at her highest. He also wants to PACK our great United States Supreme Court. This is what the Dems will do. Remember as they try changing positions before elections end. GET OUT AND VOTE!" Then, in a follow-up tweet to emphasize what that position is, Trump warned, "Biden and Democrats just clarified the fact that they are fully in favor of (very) LATE TERM ABORTION, right up until the time of birth, and beyond - which would be execution. Biden even endorsed the Governor of Virginia, who stated this clearly for all to hear. GET OUT & VOTE!!!"

To see just how outside the mainstream the Democratic party is on abortion (and everything else), don't miss FRC's side-by-side comparison.
