Jocelyn Samuels - Vice Chair of Equal Employment and Opportunity Commission (EEOC)

Samuels has previously served in the Obama administration as the Director of the Office for Civil Rights at HHS. Prior to that, she served as Acting Assistant Attorney General and other appointed positions within the Department of Justice. Since her time in the Obama administration, she has been serving as the Executive Director of the Williams Institute.

Views on Abortion:

• While Director of the Office of Civil Rights, she ruled that several faith-based organizations had to provide abortions in their health care plans regardless of their spiritual beliefs (See link)
• Spoke against the efforts by the Trump administration to allow religious organizations to follow their beliefs and not provide abortions in their health care plans (See link)
• Spoke against the Weldon Amendment and advocated for continued abortion funding (See link)

Views on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity:

• Spearheaded the development of the flawed definition of sex in section 1557 of Obamacare which sought to force physicians to participate in gender reassignment surgeries or abortions (See link)
