FRC Action PAC Announces Endorsement of State Sen. David Shafer for Lieutenant Governor of Georgia
Washington, D.C. – FRC Action PAC, the political action committee connected with Family Research Council Action, is endorsing State Sen. David Shafer for Lieutenant Governor of Georgia.
FRC Action PAC Executive Vice President, Lt. General (Ret.) Jerry Boykin commented:
“During Sen. Shafer’s tenure as a state senator, he has been a strong defender of life, family, and religious freedom. Recently, he sponsored a bill to protect faith-based adoption agencies in Georgia, allowing them to operate according to the principles of their faith without fear of government punishment. We also appreciate his support of legislation that prohibits abortion after 20 weeks, the point at which science proves the unborn can feel pain, as well as legislation that protects religious employers from being forced to cover abortion-inducing drugs in their health insurance plans.
“In the nearly three years since the Obergefell v. Hodges many states began considering bills that would protect employers, pastors, and faith-based organizations from being forced to violate their deeply held religious beliefs about marriage. Georgia was ground zero for one of those debates. Although the current governor caved to liberal demands, Sen. Shafer stood strong and supported this fundamental freedom for the people of Georgia. His leadership is greatly needed to advance important legislation through the state assembly in the days ahead.
“FRC Action PAC is confident that Sen. Shafer will be a principled advocate for Constitutional limited government, for individual liberties, and for strong family values. He is the leader that Georgia needs, and we are pleased to offer our endorsement of his candidacy for lieutenant governor,” Boykin concluded.
