March 19, 2013 - Tuesday

Greetings from FRC Action!

We wanted to share the following information with you from our friends at the National Organization for Marriage-Rhode Island. If you have previously received this message, please simply disregard this second contact. We did, however, want to make certain that you, your friends, and your neighbors would be aware of this very critical information.

We encourage you to join NOM-Rhode Island in making your voice heard today!

Join us on [Thursday] at the State House in Room 313 to tell the Senate Judiciary Committee that the people of Rhode Island want a voice in the marriage debate.... [We] are counting on you to help get the word out about where and when the people of Rhode Island can participate in this process.

...Same-sex 'marriage' would create a situation where many children would not be given their best chance to have a mother and a father. Fatherlessness or motherlessness is a tragedy for any child that leaves a hole in their development, which could never be filled by two guardians of the same gender. The people of Rhode Island deserve the right to decide if this is an acceptable exchange for redefining marriage.

Most Rev. Thomas J. Tobin, bishop of the Diocese of Providence, had this to say about the newly proposed bill by Senator Frank Ciccone:

"We will continue to vigorously oppose efforts to redefine the institution of marriage in Rhode Island. Nevertheless, the legislation introduced by Senator Ciccone presents an eminently reasonable approach to this divisive issue. It advances the discussion in a positive and democratic way, while at the same time safeguarding the rights of all parties. The citizens of Rhode Island have a right to vote on this crucial issue."

We stand alongside the bishop 100% in this statement. Will you stand with us on March 21?

If you are interested in testifying at the hearing, be sure to arrive early in order to sign up. We need people like YOU to stand up and voice your concern or at the very least voice your desire to let the people decide.

Parking can be found at the Providence Place Mall in the Stateside Lot....

Also, please consider making your voice heard in a different way by calling and emailing the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to tell them to reject the same-sex 'marriage' legislation and instead let the people vote. Their contact information can be found below.
