Please call your two U.S. Senators at 202-224-3121 and urge them to vote 'yes' on Rick Perry, Ben Carson, and Scott Pruitt.
February 16, 2017 - Thursday

Hearings and votes are continuing in the Senate at a snail’s pace for President Trump’s cabinet picks. But this week, we’ll finally see movement with several candidates primed for votes: among them are Rick Perry for Secretary of Energy, Ben Carson for Secretary of HUD, and Scott Pruitt for EPA Administrator.

From IRS’ targeting of Conservative organizations, to HHS’ attempt to force private businesses to violate deeply-held religious beliefs or face crippling fines, the last eight years have shown us just important it is to have good leadership in each area of government.

Rick Perry – Secretary of Energy

Appointee Rick Perry is the longtime Texas Governor and a two-time Republican presidential candidate. An Air Force Captain and a graduate of Texas A&M University, Perry has served in the Texas House of Representatives, as Texas’ Agriculture Commissioner, and as Texas’ Lt. Governor prior to his election to the post of Governor in 2000. Perry has also been a featured speaker at our annual Values Voter Summit. With a long and impressive history in public service, Perry is a nominee who will chart a course toward smarter energy policies designed to strengthen national security and re-build our economy. This is particularly good news for hard-working families and for business owners who have been hobbled by federal regulations under President Obama.

Ben Carson – Secretary of Housing and Urban Development

Ben Carson is a neurosurgeon and former Republican presidential candidate. After his youth in impoverished inner-city Detroit, Carson rose to prominence as a pioneer in the field of pediatric neurosurgery, eventually taking over the department for Johns Hopkins University Hospital. Carson is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and founder of the Carson Scholars Fund. Like Perry, Carson has been a featured speaker at our Values Voter Summit. He is a man committed to the sanctity of all life, and believes that we the people have an obligation to help lift others out of a welfare environment. From his highly-publicized speech at the National Prayer Breakfast to his recent run for president, Carson has championed polices that will strengthen faith, family, and freedom. He is the perfect nominee to oversee fair-housing laws and oversee HUD so that it truly serves the American people.

Scott Pruitt – Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency

Nominee Scott Pruitt is the Oklahoma Attorney General. Once the Republican whip of the Oklahoma Senate, Pruitt established a "Federalism Unit" in the attorney general's office dedicated to fighting President Barack Obama's burdensome regulatory agenda, suing the administration over Obamacare among other things. Pruitt has called himself "a leading advocate against the EPA’s activist agenda," which represents a welcomed deviation from the past eight years of cumbersome regulations that stifled the growth of American business. Pruitt’s commitment to smaller government and his history of public service have prepared him to establish a consistent, national regulatory program in the EPA geared toward re-building the strength of the U.S. economy. He realizes that Big Government is not the answer to our nation’s challenges. After years of watching the federal government use an arsenal of tools to fine and punish businesses that did not conform to its environmentalist agenda, Pruitt’s approach represents a much-needed change for freedom-loving Americans.
